Happy 2018! Here we go again on another calendar flip where many use the days as a reminder of where they’ve been and where they want to go.
For many of us, that means RESOLUTIONS! In my opinion, that’s a dreaded word. Do you think anyone thinks “resolutions†and their heart literally leaps in their chest because they’re so excited by them? I don’t.
That’s why this year, I’m claiming (for your sake and everyone else’s…well, maybe not the fitness companies) that resolutions are TRASH! And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
I don’t think people that make resolutions are inherently bad or off with their intentions. I just think we tend to make things harder than they need to be. Goals are hard, change is hard, life is hard. But, in some ways as humans we automatically seem to default to making things “hard†for really no good reason.
That’s why, I’m asking you to join me in a different type of plan for 2018. Is it guaranteed to work? Nope. Do I have testimonials to prove it’s better than the dreaded resolutions? Not at all. But I will tell you straight up that I love where this is heading.
So, here’s what I’m going to attempt.
First off, I’m going to declare quite specifically what it is that I want. (Ex: more engaging time with my family) Second, I’m going to look at what I specifically want and then I’m going to ask myself, “What would this look like if it were easy to get?†Third, I’m going to answer my own question.
Sounds simple, right? And it is. It’s really such a lovely twist on a goal or resolution because it pre-frames in our own brain that it might not be hard. Unfortunately, when we establish resolutions, we are already pre-framed that they are going to be difficult to obtain.
That’s why looking at goals or what you want in terms of it being easy is such an unusual thing. But it also gives us a clear path without all the BS that might actually help you get started.
So what does this have to do with you, me, and your health?
Well many people are stuck with their health because of pain, fear, lack of having exercised or eating right for a while, or just unsure what is the best plan for them.
Many people are also unaware that in any of these cases, it is exactly what we do for people everyday to help them on the right path.
“What would it look like if it were easy?†How about a place that can help you heal quickly from pain or injury WITHOUT medications or surgeries, without needing 30 visits, without seeing your physician, and once you’re pain-free can help you with a movement or fitness plan AND you can do it yourself? What value would that add to your life?
If it would add any at all, then please be aware that we help people just like you every day.
And if you really can define what you want, and you want that path to be easy, then we’re here in 2018 to help you get to that point.
Cheers to a happy and healthy 2018!
Yours in health,
Eric
